Titi Eco Resort at Negeri Sembilan

2 August 2014

To escape from busy city life, our next trip was to Titi Eco Resort at the nearby State (Negeri Sembilan). The whole journey took us one and a half hours. It was tiring trip with winding roads. Reservations need to be made in advance. The place was free from the hustle and bustle of the city , which makes it difficult for me to adapt at first. Eventually, I like the peace and quiet there. The place offer accommodation as well.

I took the 1 day tour (RM 50 ) inclusive of an organic lunch. We were greeted by the staff which gave us a tour around the area. They introduced us the many useful herbs planted around the area. I found the Aloe Vera the best due to its healing properties. They rear Ostrich and rabbits too. Only then I found out rabbits are quite picky when it comes to food. They ignore my vegetables and only came over when I gave them corn to eat. Surprisingly, the four rabbits that came refuse to let go of the corn once they tasted it until there is nothing left for them to eat.

Next comes the exciting part, the flying fox and the walking bridge. The flying fox was exciting. They gave you a rope and a small round hook to put your leg as support. My straw hat flew off when I was swinging halfway. My heart skip a beat for that moment. Luckily I look calm and did not scare the kids. The bridge is safer to walk.

Finally, our short tour ended with healthy organic lunch.  It feels good to have a healthy meal. After the meal, I went for shopping at their stall. I bought papaya powder made from unripe papaya that is known to have slimming and detoxing effect. I wonder how true is the effect but that's a nice souvenir I got.

Getaway to the Lion City

29 July 2014

Last minute getaway with family to Lion's City - Singapore during the long break inclusive of public holiday.  By taking a flight to Singapore, we have ample time for sightseeing upon arrival. The most impressive food I tasted in the airport was the Burger King Breakfast set with the turkey ham burger that comes with a croissant bun.
Really fell in love with the breakfast set I ate.

Without further delay, we bought a package from the tourist information counter which consist of entry to the Singapore Flyer, the Night Safari, The Garden of the Bay and Universal Studio for SGD 150. Hiring a driver to travel around places makes our life easier. After checking in the hotel, we proceed to our first destination- Singapore Flyer, the Ferris wheel. Moving at slow and steady speed, we get to enjoy the magnificent view of Singapore from different angles at a comfortable pace.
What impress me  is that you can even have your meal while riding the Flyer. Some compartments have table coupled with chairs for such purpose. I am curious about having a meal in the Singapore Flyer. I quickly drop that idea when I saw the requirements and pricing. I guess now is not the time for me to indulge in such luxury yet.

We stop by the Merlion Park before heading to our next destination. A visit to Singapore is not complete if one does not stop by this place of interest.

Our next destination was Gardens by the Bay.
The place have several key of attractions. The 2 main areas that mesmerized me were the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

Even though it is around 5pm in the evening, the sun is still glaring as ever and the heat is unbearable for me. Going to the Flower Dome really save my life. Phew. Strolling around the area surrounded by beautiful flowers in a cooling environment makes me feel like I am on paradise.

The flowers are really impressive. I am impress with the unique Persian Garden design and flower arrangement in the Flower Dome.

Without further delay, we proceed to the Cloud Forest. Upon entry, we were greeted by the majestic man made waterfall.  Standing below splashes of water from the waterfall makes me feel like I am close to being on top of the world.

We had our dinner at a food court within the gardens of the bay. After that, we move on to the night Safari.

No photography were allowed when you are on board. So the least I can take is the vehicle that takes tourist for the ride. Surprisingly, the vehicle does not have any form of cage or protection for the tourist. Luckily, the animals were not aggressive. A daredevil Tapir came close to the vehicle  just to have a snack at the nearby grass. Almost touch that animal. Having a close look at those wild animals really change my perspective of them.
That concludes our tour for day 1.

30 July 2014

Day 2 was full day at Universal Studio.
Since that days falls in conjunction with the public holiday in Singapore, the crowd was scary since early morning.
Behold, the Universal Studio and the crowd.

The first section we went were greeted warmly by the dancing mascots from Madagascar. Really like the Penguins dancing in their suits. We visited the 4D show in the Kingdom of Far Far away. The spider and splashing effect is fascinating.
We took a ride in Jurassic Park to revisit the ancient Dinosaur that many fear. The ride was nice with a surprising end of excitement. Should have bought raincoat for my parents and siblings who sat at the other end. I thank my instinct for picking the right seat  that makes me dry.
The greatest disappointment we had was the inability to ride the roller coaster when it was closed. To give myself more hope, I took a snapshot of the unique statute and hurried to the sci tech region for Transformers.
Transformers ride was the longest ride I had to take. The adrenaline rush and excitement really took the entertainment rides to a next level. The 4D effect, the hot air and splashing water was fascinating. After that, a parade walk was held while we were dining. At the end of the day, sesame streets came alive. Really miss my childhood. This concludes the end of  trip for day 2.

My Penang Trip

After my Ipoh trip, my next destination was the Penang Island situation in the northern side of Peninsular Malaysia. I attended a friend's wedding there and she was gorgeous in her wedding dress.

The end of something marks the beginning of a new adventure, after the wedding, I began my food hunt.
By late evening, I was already at Gurney Paragon, a new shopping complex opened not long ago. The place was nice but my main target was the food at Gurney Drive. Luckily, we were there early to start eating. This is when the quote "sharing is caring " is high applicable. In order to savor as many food as we can, we ordered 1 plate of each food we were interested.

The first dish was fried oyster. I find it good as the oyster were given generously.
The next dish was the all time favorite Penang Fried Kuey Teow. It was good too.
Another famous dish ordered was the Assam Laksa.
Lastly, we ordered the Hokkien Mee. In KL, we called it the prawn noodles. Somehow the Hokkien Mee in KL is the fried thick noodles in Black sauce while the Prawn Mee in KL is the one in the picture.

Tadaa, that's the end of Day 1.

The next day, we had breakfast at  the Hawker stalls at Pulau Tikus. I really missed the Duck noodles stall near the police station.
My Favorite Duck Noodles (Mee Suah) with Chicken Drumstick, the soup was fantastic.

The carrot cake goes well as additional snack.

The Tom Yum noodles was spicy and appetizing.

After our breakfast, we took a brisk walk around the area until it was near the afternoon.  Without further delay, we headed to our next destination, the famous Air Itam Laksa. We were lucky this time as the stall was just opened upon our arrival. Getting a good seat was really a bonus for me.
The famous Air Itam Assam Laksa near Kek Lok Si Temple goes well with the sugarcane drink.

I bough Loh Bak (combination of fried foods) as snack for the trip back to KL

Next Target, Fried Kuey Teow ~
This is the Fried Kuey Teow Stall ( Kafe Heng Huat ) where the uncle/aunty cooks wearing goggles.

The prawns are huge, but the portion is quite small, but that gives me more room to try other food.
Cendol + Fried Kuey Teow= Awesome

The Next Fried Kuey Teow I tried took me more than 30 mins of waiting time.
Ah Leng Fried Kuey Teow
The Fried Kuey Teow with the Big Prawns and Mantis Prawns was tasty, the 30 min ++ waiting time was totally worth it. Highly Recommended.

After savoring all the food, dessert is a must. What is better than having the coconut jelly ~

The coconut with jelly  inside and the coconut flesh
The coconut Shake with Pearls

The dessert marks the end of My Penang trip, really gonna miss the food there.
After that day, I shall bear the guilt of over eating and work hard to lose of the extra pounds.

Get Fat Trip to Ipoh

2 days ago, I attended a wedding at Air Tawar, Perak and I stayed overnight at Ipoh, Perak.
Sleeping as late as 2.30am and waking up 2 and half hours later, I kickstart my day going to Perak before sunrise. I was really tired and blur, luckily I wasn't the one driving or I will put everyone's life at stake.
Timing was really good, we arrived just in time for the Church Wedding and then proceed to wedding lunch. In between, we tried the famous cendol pulut near It's nice to see my old friends again. The reunion was memorable and brings back nostalgic memories from the past. After seeing each other for a while, some of us had to part ways.

For me and my gang, we headed to Ipoh to stay. I ate dinner at a burger nearby called Rawang Burger Bakar. Weird  choice since we came all the way to Ipoh to eat food that comes from the place you stay. Luckily, the food was tasty and that was a relief. At night we drank the snowflake beer, where they freeze the beer first before serving. Coupled cold beer with fried chicken, that was paradise .Now I understand why the same scene from the Korean drama's My Love from the Star is  so popular. We pampered our stomach by eating the prawn noodles as supper at the nearby food court. The prawns were big and the price was cheap too. Totally worth it. That was the end of day 1.

The next day, I had dim sum at Yoke Fook Moon Dim Sum. The deep fried carrot card that was crunchy on the outside and soft inside never ceased to amaze me. The "Har Mai" was good too probably to the bigger prawns used. Their special soft moochi with durian filling was great too.  We bought egg tarts at a coffee shop. Can't remember the name. The Big Tree foot Yong Tao Fu was the catch of the day for me. I got like 8+ pieces yong tao fu for RM7. Not only taste good but the main factor is the food being cheap. We saw many people took away more than 50 pieces Yong Tao Fu.

Happy times flew faster than running water, we headed back to KL after that. So this is back to reality for me. I had to face the consequences of overeating and the mood swing of going back to work. So for the coming weeks is exercise week. Anyway this trip was totally worth it.

An Outing to Remember

I went to a nearby water theme park known as Sunway Lagoon with my friends . The last time I went was 3 like years ago. We started off by going to the Scream Park  right after the entrance. It was  horrifying yet memorable with so called "ghosts" coming to scare me and my friends. I end up gripping my friend's hand as tight as possible, let's just hope she doesn't have bruises after that. My own fear of going in to scream park came as a surprise for most of my friends and my self. Really need to brace myself and increase my courage.

Next, we move on to different rides such as the Vuvuzela, magic carpet etc... Everyone's expression was interesting when it comes to exciting rides. Another remarkable thing is the 5D waterplexx that I went in there twice. With water splashing from unpredictable areas , coupled with the 3D glasses and screams from the audience, the waterplexx never ceased to attract visitors there.

Everything was perfect until the downpour that started when we were at the surf beach. Before the downpour, we find the drizzle nice as it was cooling while the water is warm. Then the lifeguard had to blow the vessel and chased us out. With the heavy rain going for like 45 mins, I was exhausted and the only thing that came across my mind was to take a shower at my gym and rushed to had my dinner.

Although Sunway Lagoon is near to my place, I hardly pay that place a visit. At times, we often overlook wonderful things that are closest to us. This outing makes me want to appreciate those beautiful things and amazing people that are by my side. We never know how much time we have left to spend with one another. Until our path cross again, my friends.

Prologue

Hi, after the long struggling between my inner desire and my fear, my inner desire won and here I am taking my first step to write this blog. I had to admit that I am quite out dated for starting a blog that late but hey a thousand miles start with a single step and this is a good beginning for me. So give me some encouragement.

Basically, I am a simple person who is looking for interesting things in life. I enjoyed going to new places and travelling of course, if I have the $$. My dream is to travel and eat all the good food around the world and still stay healthy . Come on, who doesn't. Recently I just came back from my trip so I will start off with that.

That's all I have to say for today. See ya on my next post.
